Thankfully I won my
first toss in two years and we batted first - a very good toss to win in the
sweltering heat. Brilliant opening stand from Simon and Gordon set up a a big
total. Scoring at 10 an over for the first three overs and levelling out at over
7 an over for the first 10 overs, the openers laid a very solid foundation for a
big total. Shots played to all parts of the ground. Heat got to the boys
eventually but their job had been. Hugh Thompson went in at first drop and
played a gem of a know to rack up 50 in no time. Great to see Hugh timing the
ball well again. the usually Greenies Too collapse followed, a few run outs
mixed with a little bit of bad lick saw us squeeze out 205 off our 35 overs.
Dicky and Dave Rajaratnam again making a good contribution down the lower order.
Chasing down 205 was always going to be a tough ask for the boys from JJs
construction, decked out splendidly in their army green t-shirts and
plus-fours/knickerbockers with shiny white shoes. great catch in slips by Simon
to get the first breakthrough, good bowling by Hugh Thompson. For once I bowled
well, bowling 7 overs, two maidens and NO WIDES, a stat that will surely send
Dobby Burgess scurrying for the record books. Dave McGrath again bowled
brilliantly claiming 4 wickets and slicing through the middle order. 4 lbw's
given again - have the CICA finally realised that we only appeal when we think
its out??? Top effort all round. Lets keep the good times rolling and rack up
another win this weekend. We're not out of this comp if we keep on winning and
there's no reason why we can't with the talent we have in the team and on the
sidelines. Great spirit around the team at the moment so keep it up. Sorry for
writing in poorly formed sentences but running late and can't be @rsed - that's
the spirit that I'm talking about!!! Attached is the latest Div 1 & 2 draws,
courtesy of Theodore The Third Chipmunk Cuffy. Also attached is an article from
yesterdays Cayman Compass that gives a better match report as well as a photo of
Hector competing in the recent Cayman Islands Body Building
Championships. Good luck this weekend to Grover and the boys - stick it
uppem! Especially good luck to Dave Parry who plays his last game for Greenies
this weekend. Give him the send off he deserves.

Thanks Tex for the bottle of rum! Sharing it with Dicky as he bowled no
wides either. Yes, rum is my all conquering
incentive.
