GOOD START!

Bowling scorecard
Greenies one had a good start to the season with a
comprehensive 9 wicket victory against Paramount yesterday at JPO. Paramount
pretty much handed us the match by being so late that they were docked 5 overs.
Winning the toss & electing to field, Josh started with an uncharacteristic
loose opening over including 7 wides & a no ball, something that even Redsie
didn't achieve. After that we settled & bowled reasonably well to restrict
them to 98 from 15 overs. The total was inflated by 20 extras, which can be
partly excused only this time as it was the first game of season. An extras
total anything close to 20 will be inexcusable from now on. Josh was better
after his opening over & Ledge took a wicket & swung the ball. Nick
& Carey were extremely effective with figures of 0-22 & 2-19 from 4
overs each. Carey had the big JPO crowd in stiches with his unique but very
effective bowling style. It is hard to describe in words, perhaps best if
someone takes some photos to post on the website for those who haven't seen it.
Only 4 bowlers were required.
The run chase was clinical. Ian & Steve got us off to a flyer against some bowling that the Witch Doctor described as "chicken feed mon." Ian played some lovely lofted straight drives & Steve hit a massive 6 over mid wicket. Better still the running between wickets was excellent & they managed to turn the strike almost every ball. Steve got a leading edge & was caught for 24 with a stike rate 104, an opening partnership of 60. Ian & I saw us home with 6 & a bit overs to spare, Ian finishing with a very classy 50 not out, strike rate 125.
MOM - Ian
Play of day - Steve's 6 but should have
been Hogg's outfield catch to get rid of Dino when he was looking good. It went
high & swirled in the breeze but he judged it perfectly.
COTD - Josh - 4 overs, 3-27 including 8 wides, a no ball & 2
fours off the final 2 balls of there innings. Throw in a few outbursts in
Afrikans, which I couldn't interpret but got the vibe that he wasn't very happy
with himself.
The beers tasted sweet & the Stingers Super Bowl session was good fun.
