On a stinking hot day, the toss was crucial & when
I called correctly, Saheed walked away in disgust, not even bothering to hear my
decision. Their seamers were very accurate & their spinners dangerous.
The batsman showed great concentration & skill to get to 5-221 off our 50
overs. Partnerships of 75 between Paul & Craig, 62 between Josh & myself
& 54 between Josh & Watto was exactly what we aimed to achieve. We had
wickets in hand but struggled to make the last 10 overs count like we did
against Byrite last week because their spinners were very hard to get
away.
Josh & Sean were very accurate & ripped through
the top order, getting rid of the dangermen Gordon & Saheed. Prison
were 6-88 & in deep sh!t. From there we relaxed just slightly &
allowed the Doc to get in with Kenchand Dindyal. They put on 87 but when
Paul & Watto stumped the Doc, we were still in it. They lost wickets at
regular intervals but Kenchand batted on to make a very determined & classy
83. He was 9th man out, with 12 runs still needed to win. Craig &
I couldn't quite get it on the spot & the tailenders made it home in a
nail-biter. Prison won by 1 wicket. It was a great effort by the bowlers
& fielders in oppressive conditions. Unfortunately we just couldn't finish
them off. Very quiet dressing room.
A great game of cricket. You have to lose sometimes,
but fark it would have been nice to win yesterday.
MOM - Josh, 60 no & 2-35 off 10. A fine
game.
COTD - Josh - getting hit in the nuts by Bazil,
compounded by the fact he was wearing boxers. Ouch!
POTD - Me for a direct hit run out of
Kenchand - the only way we were going to get
him out.
