Scorecard

The Toos' juggernaut continued to gather pace this weekend after a good win over Pro-Plus (formerly Caledonian), landing us in top spot in the group and sealing a berth in the Twenty20 semi-finals next week.

Dickie kicked off his captaincy with a successful coin toss and elected to have a dart at the ProPlus batting line up.

Chris Troskie took the new ball and started with some huge, almost uncontrollable outswingers, which when not called wide, were making the batsmen look pretty ordinary. Dogga Dean was his usual miserly self at the other end and wickets fell at a steady rate. Their opening bat and main threat lived a charmed life, with countless near chances just falling out of reach and a stone cold run out appeal turned down without having faced a single delivery. A decent 4th wicket partnership kept ProPlus in with a sniff, along with a generous 23 wides, although the brakes were firmly applied when McGrath & Faisal came on, the former finally removing their opener and a dangerous looking number 5 bat. Both bowlers were getting good turn off the pitch and the batsmen didn't have too many answers for it. With one ball to spare, ProPlus were all out for 136, 33 made in extras alone.

With players justifiably scared of Steve Smith's fine bottle (this week containing octopus & scotch bonnet amongst other ingredients) and looking to give the 4 new Laver & Woods a thorough road test, Greenies Too went about the task of knocking off the runs. Opener Steve Smith put us on top from the first over, belting two imperious 4s and an exquisite 6 over cover, putting ProPlus on the back foot from the outset. After a hideous running mix up ended in Gordon's dismissal without facing a delivery, Texas came to the party, crashing fours and sixes at will and piled up a match winning partnership with Steve of 79 off just 56 balls. Steve Smith finally holed out to point four runs shy of what would have been a deserved half century in only 32 balls, leaving Texas to wrap things up with Steve O'Connor, after an entertaining cameo from Dogga Dean. All over in the 17th over. Finishing with an unbeaten 52 (50 balls), Tex graciously gave an interview to the local press, interrupted midstream with an impromptu collapse and an impressive spew.

After a lengthy fine session, the boys in the green pajamas carried on giving it plenty in Stingers and onto Calico's. For the record:

Play of the Day: Steve Smith's huge six in the first over

Man of the Match: That man Smith again, for his knock of 46 from 32 balls

COTD: Steve O'Connor, for turning up to the ground pretty much as we were taking the field.
