We went down to Schools yesterday with our batting
again letting us down badly. I won the toss & elected to bowl on a
wicket which was a little damp. The bowling & fielding was okay, only 2
wides all innings but 5 no balls let us down badly. 2 of these free hits
were boundaries & 2 were wickets (albeit not out). Scores between 105 &
115 have been winning totals all tournament & while it seemed like we did
well to hold Schools to 113, in reality we should have held them to below
100.
Whereas Steve was out 2nd ball of the innings against
Police, Ian was out first ball to a ripping yorker from Marlon. I was out
slapping a half volley straight to point in the 3rd over. Josh & Nevels held
steady for 8 overs but got bogged down by some good bowling & couldn't get
the scoreboard ticking. The run rate climbed to 8 an over with ten to go &
we didn't really look like getting close from that point. We finished at
91-9.
No one stood out so instead of sugar coating an average
performance, MOM & POTD were replaced for 3 COTDs, which
were:
Carey - responsible for 3 no balls
Craig - organised a fine bottle with an alcoholic
percentage of 14.5% & tasted / pretty much was apple cider - for this, he
will have another attempt next week.
Nick - His 20/20 batting stats in the tournament to
date - 3 innings, 3 times out, zero runs for an average of 0
