This one should have been on telly. No one could have guessed what was to unfold, yet it did. The knockers say cricket's dull... ha! If only they were there. In what can only be described as a fitting way to wind up the 2007 regular season, the Toos found themselves embroiled in one hell of a cricket match. Mops flew, horns blew and the crowd became hoarse, and in a fitting finale, one fella stole the show... and the game.

It was the usual start, a 38 over game with probably seven out of the starting XI amply hungover. Robbo in possibly his last hurrah won the toss and threw the boys in for a hit.

1ST INNINGS

Openers Tommy and Simon got the show on the road, Simon falling early to a tricky wicket. With the use of four bats, Tommy was in startling touch, missing and swatting pretty much everything on his way to 30 before belting one deep to one of the best running backwards catches seen. The top order struggled with the bowling. Steve Smith copped a busted toe for his 3 while Robbo snuck on the board before losing the bails. Dogga Dean, on 5, was run out by the umpire... literally. Ledge was back in the pavilion after 2 mins and gave himself one of the best sprays I've heard in forever!!

6/60 from 18.

Enter Alex Porter. His innings of 59 from 73 was swashbuckling and painful all at once. The bloke should have gone to hospital. With Joe at the other end, they turned the tide on Welly's and gained the momentum that would keep on going till the last ball. Together they plied a partnership of 44, when Joe finally departed on 19 from 17.

7/104 from 28.

It's blo%dy hot. Dave Rajaratnam to the crease. Alex buggered. Raja's full of beans, Alex is walking the last half of each run, Welly's can't run him out, Alex wants them to run him out, Alex now going for the boundaries, and making them, Raja's hitting 2s, Alex good only for singles. Alex hailing to be dragged... but the skipper's having non of it!

OUT. Alex run out. Partnership of 54.

8/158 from 35.

Dickie comes out swinging, Raja's at full steam, smash 20 from 14, Shan's not needed, it's over.

8/179 from 38.

2ND INNINGS

With Steve Smith sitting out with a busted toe, 12th man Clay filled in as the Greenies took to the field. We weren’t looking too pretty when at drinks the openers were still batting. Opportunities were few and far between and it was bl%$dy hot.

A missed chance came to Dogga who bowled a great maiden earlier, dropping one off of his own bowling. Robbo let the spinners go at it after drinks, with Joe's tight bowling slowing the run rate somewhat.

0/90 from 18. (Greenies 6/60)

Ledge bowls danger man Carter for 61! Soon after he nails a second, Hillier bowled for 1. Lbw chances are endless, but the Umpires want none of it. Tommy is giving 'em a good ol' spray! Dave Rajaratnam is brought in for some spin. First ball's a wide. Second ball... wicket! Best is bowled for 11.

3/116 from 26. (Greenies 6/95)

Opener Christian is still in, but struggling against the spin. Raja's bowling, Shan stuffs a pick up in mid on and cops a deserved spray from Raja. Christian then skies a catch to Shan. All's forgiven!! Next ball... WICKET. Joe catches one on his tit in mid wicket. Greaves gone for a duck. Raja's on a hat trick!! The field's in... Raja's bowls... blocked by Plowright.

5/136 from 30. (Greenies 7/110)

Plowright and Wason. Welly's add 15 to the scoreboard before the skipper crashes the stumps! Wason gone for 15. Dogga's brought back into the attack, bowling tight. Wicket!! Plowright. The umpire's have given an Lb!!

7/153 from 33.2  (Greenies 7/140)

The cheering is loud. Red's on the horn and introing every bowler like they are stepping in a ring. Even the girls are in on the buzz. Jacko's waving the mop, Red's now being yelled at from Robbo to get on scoreboard duty. It's in the air. 27 from 28 balls to win. Howell and Hunt at the crease. Howell can bat. Hunt skies one short to Ledge in close!! Red's on that horn!! Jacko's on the boundary saluting with mop!

8/162 from 35.3 (Greenies 8/158)

Its's getting close. 18 from 15 balls. This Howell bloke is good. Is scoring at better than a run a ball (s/rate of 135.7). Crashes a four over mid-on, another through square leg... they are taking there chances and it's coming off. Howell is in control. Parker, the young lanky fella, is doing a great job holding up the other end. He will face the first ball of the last over.

Final Over.

Wellies need 6 to win. Robbo's had his head buried in the bowlers card all day. Dickie is handed the ball. Robbo is taking his time setting the field. The crowd is going off!!

Parker on strike... Dickie bowls... Parker's edged a single. Sh$t. Howell's checking the field, Robbo's pushed us back to the boundary. Dickie bowls again... Howell blasts it out between fielders through deep mid wicket and long on... FOUR!!!!!

Scores level. Howell on strike. Field's up. There's babble now from the crowds, Welly's with 3 balls remaining to claim a well deserved win. No car horns. No dominoes. A mop is being waved with pride.

Here we go, Richard "THE SAWLE" Thomes storms into Howell...............

BOWWWWWWWWWLED HIM  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Never been in a group hug like that one!!)
