Greenies Too had a fantastic win on the weekend over Welly's, moving us up to equal 2nd in the league with one game to play against Esso Cubs.  With what must have been the hottest day of the year so far, we descended upon JPO hoping to win the toss and have a leisurely bat but I stuffed that up by losing and they put us into field.  With the Welly's players slowly turning up to the ground and the match reduced to 36 overs, Dogga and Carey opened the bowling and we struck in the third over with Dogga dismissing the Doc for 3 with a fortunate LBW.  From here these two turned the screws with Dogga getting another and they went to the first drinks break at 2 for 40 after 15 overs.  Carey was luckless, bowling his 7 for 20, with one missed opportunity after Watto ducked a decapitator at short cover.  Dogga was equally as good with 2 for 16 off his 7.

Dawson, in his new first change role and Watto continued the tight bowling, with Watto getting a couple more plumb LBW's and Dawson taking out someone's off stump.  Shan also took a cracking caught behind as well to have Welly's reeling at around 6 for 90, with Watto taking 3 for 25.  With Little Frankie providing good support to Welly's opener and predominant run scorer, I was a little worried when Dawson dropped a sitter at mid off.  All this was after a Greenies Too-esque run out debacle where Carey picked it up at square leg with both batsmen at one end, basically shot-putted it to Dawson, who let it slowly roll between his legs with two other players milling around watching nearby.  Also, when their opener hit one to deep long on, Watto took a leaping one handed grab, only to lose his balance and have to throw it back into the field as he went over the boundary.  The confusion over whether it was six or not meant it ended up being a pretty eventful dot ball, with Watto getting suitably fined later on.

With six overs to go, Jimmy Jim Rocks took the ball and their opener immediately tried to hit it to Stingray City, but Clarky (in his Greenies debut) took an awesome and well-judged diving catch to dismiss him.  From here Jimmy bamboozled the batsmen, taking another two wickets and it came down to the last ball for him to try and get his fourth.  With the field in and Carey right in the batsmen's ear telling him to charge down the wicket and go for 'glory', he obliged and Shan whipped off the bails for Jimmy to finish on 4 for 11 off 3 overs.  Jerry also chipped in with 6 overs for around 25 and was unlucky not to get a wicket.

This left them all out for 124 off 36 overs, a great bowling effort, considering their opener contributed 72 runs and we only conceded 8 wides.

After Jerry's cucumber sandwiches etc, Watto and Randall went out and started the run chase well, with an opening partnership of 40, just about the best for the year I would have thought, before Watto was out to a sharp catch at short third man for 20.  I then got a leading edge to a full toss dolly and was caught for 8 and Dogga got bowled for 4 off the same slow, straight bowler.  With memories of past Greenies implosions on everyone's minds, Clarky came in at 5 on debut and he steadied the ship with Randall until Randall was out bowled going for his 50, for a patient 47.  From here Raj cracked a couple to remain on 6 not out and Clarky made a solid 21 not out.

Overall, a convincing win, our third in a row as we look to end the season on a high.

MOTM - Jimmy - 4 for 11 stepping it up for his old man in the stands.
POTD - Clarky's catch
COTD - Dawson - dropped catch, horrible run out with Carey, BUT he only bowled 1 wide.
