The Toos game second Twenty20 game of the season was moved to the school ground at West Bay. The match was rained off after Welly’s innings so the report will inevitably be brief.

The toss was lost and Welly’s elected to bat. We were a bit slow off the mark and weren’t really properly prepared to start the game and consequently they were 36 for 0 after 3. We then settled down and bowled and fielded relatively well for the next 10 or 12 overs and were in a strong position when we had them at 127 for 4 after 15 overs.

Unfortunately we lost our way a bit towards the end and Welly’s scored more freely in the last 5 overs however this is only to be expected on a ground where the straight boundaries are just behind the bowlers’ run up marker.

Welly’s finished on 194 for 7 off their allotted 20. Keeping Welly’s to this score was a reasonable effort on the school pitch. 200 had seemed like about a par score given the unique scoring conditions at the school.

Useful bowling performances from Dogga Dean (4 overs 2 for 30) and Craig Scott (4 overs 1 for 30).

Unfortunately the rains came down heavily and the mat never dried out enough to start again.

In a shortened fine session the following awards were given out:

Play of the Day – Shannon’s first stumping for the 2’s
COTD – Steve Smith (one over none for 26)
MOM – McGrath (4 overs 2 for 19)

The teams shared one point each and we move on to play Pro Plus next Saturday at Smith Road at 3pm.
